School Board to Hold Elections

By Staff | Jun 11, 2015

On Tuesday, two prospective Rugby school board members will be up for election.

Shane Livedalen is running for precinct two, which includes Dewey, Walsh, Ness, Jefferson, Sandale, Elling, Girard, Hillside, Rosedale and Alexanter townships. The position is a three-year term.

Although he went to school in Towner, Livedalen said he will bring a different perspective to the board.

“I do want to learn more about the system, about processes and have a little more active role,” Livedalen said.

Dr. Dustin Hager is running for precinct four, which includes the city of Rugby. It is also a position with a three-year term. Hager will bring previous board-setting experience with him, having served on the Towner City Council.

“I would bring a new perspective to the the board and would have a vested interest in making sure the school is successful in the future,” Hager said. “I desire to see things continually improve and keep moving in the right direction.”

The positions were previously held by Susan Schmaltz and Mark Hamilton, who are not seeking re-election.

Polls open at 9 a.m. in the Rugby High School commons area.
