Tragedy Strikes Pierce County

By Staff | May 1, 2015

As reported by Sheriff Siegler at approximately 2:29 pm, on 4-23-2015 the Pierce County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to a field in Pierce County located in Section 12 of the Rosedale Township, or approximately four miles west and three miles north of Esmond.

The Esmond fire fighters discovered when they arrived at the location a body of an adult male. Earlier, the Esmond Fire department had responded to a grass fire that needed attention. While still under investigation, it has been speculated that the grass fire was a result of the victim being on fire and his tucking and rolling to try to extinguish the fire, but to no avail. Foul play is not suspected at this time; it is believed to be a tragic, accidental death.

The body has been identified as Kenneth Wolf, age 55, of rural Esmond. According to reports, Mr. Wolf was married and had children. An autopsy was performed at the Forensic Pathology Department of the UND School of Medicine. The cause of death was ruled as inhalation of smoke, soot and superheated gas. This incident is still under investigation.
