Cleaning Day at the Museum Set for May 3
On Sunday, May 3, volunteers will gather from noon to 5 p.m. for the fifth annual Cleaning Day at the Museum. Workers will help clean the 30 buildings that make up Prairie Village Museum.
Service clubs and helpers of all ages are welcome to participate. Volunteers are encouraged to bring their favorite cleaning tools and lawn rakes. Cleaning products will be provided.
“Each year we get a couple dozen people out here to wipe away the cobwebs, dust the artifacts, polish the windows and sweep the floors,” said museum director Cathy Jelsing. “With so many hands on deck, and lots of good food to keep us going, it’s a fun day.”
Non-members are welcome to participate, but Jelsing is happy to sign up anyone who’d like to help the Geographical Center Historical Society reach its “300 in 2015” membership goal. “This is the museum’s 50th year and we urge people who appreciate the museum to show their support by becoming members,” Jelsing said.
Memberships, $30 for a household or $15 for an individual, include a season pass to the museum. The museum opens for school tours May 4 and to the general public May 15.
Cleaning Day is hosted by the Friends of Prairie Village Museum. For more information on this and other upcoming events, visit prairievillagemuseum.com, call 776-6414, or email email@example.com.
