Winner, Winner Chicken Dinner
The North Star Community Credit Union held their 75th annual meeting in Maddock last week. At the event door prizes were given out, and one of the lucky winners was Pius Hagel from Rugby. Mr. Hagel won the first prize of $750.00; Pius can buy a lot of chicken dinners with $750.00 at his disposal. In addition to the $750.00 first prize, there were three $250 prizes given; those winners were: John Shaffer, Kyle Olson, and Dorothy Beyer. Other door prizes given out were handmade items by NSCCU members, such as, iron works, jewelry, and hand-sewn items. In addition, every child under the age of 18 was given a $5 bill to encourage them to start saving money. If the night was supposed to be an event of fun for the whole family, it hit the mark with bingo, plinko, cakewalk, duck pluck, and a silly photo booth concluding the evening.
With over 250 members in attendance the North Star Community Credit Union shone as brightly as its name. Other memorable moments of the evening were when Rodger Williams, who had been a North Star Community Credit Union board member for 20 years, was presented with a plaque in recognition of his service upon his retirement. Also, Mike Black was re-elected as a board member and Kevin Gigstad was newly elected to the North Star Community Credit Union board. Cindy Hegland, the CEO of North Star Community Credit Union, gave a full financial report that included reporting assets of NSCCU in excess of $163 million dollars. It was also disclosed that membership in the NSCCU has grown to 9187 members.
The evening was judged a great success by all in attendance. Not only was it informative and financially rewarding, it also taught important life lessons to our youth; youth who will be our leaders of tomorrow. A win, win for all concerned.
