Information For Our Veterans, We Salute You

By Staff | Apr 2, 2015

If you are one of the veterans using MyHealtheVet, online method for your health care, in the near future you will be seeing an added feature that will assist you in interacting with your health-care professionals: this added feature is the much needed online pharmacy. This tracking system will allow the veteran 24-hours-a-day, seven-days-a-week access, via your computer, to the status of your doctor-prescribed medications. With this new service by a click of a button you will know when your medications have been shipped.0

The prescription tracker will eventually include photos of the medication that was prescribed and ultimately shipped to you. In addition they are working on adding an e-mail alert system to notify when your medications have been shipped. The medication tracker feature seems to be a great value to many veterans prompting their desire to sign up for MyHealtheVet, just so they can have this sort of access to their health needs.

There are three different levels to the program. First there is the “basic account”. The basic account does not require identity authentication. The veteran will have limited access to features, such as the journals, insurance information, health measurements and self-reported information such as lab work and medical events, but you will not be able to see your personal medical information in the Department of Defense computers.

The next level called an “advanced account”, will enable you to view some of your records on the Department of Veterans Affairs or DoD computer systems. When you become a VA patient, your profile is linked to those records. At this level you will also be able to use the prescription feature.

The next level is called the “premium account” and you will have the highest level of access available. You will need to undergo a thorough authentication at that point all your info linked to the VA or DoD records. You’ll be able to access your appointments, lab results, pathology reports plus litany of other services not available on the two lesser levels. The MyHealthe-Vet makes sense for a Veteran to participate in allowing the Vet to take full advantage of the programs available to him or her. You can go online to www.myhealth.va.gov to decide whether to participate or not and if you do what level you would like to participate.
