Ag show opens Feb. 6 at Armory

The 2015 North Central Dakota Ag Show will take place Friday, Feb. 6, starting at 10 a.m., at the Rugby Armory.

Two guest speakers will be featured at this year’s ag show. At 10:30 a.m. Kris Ringwall will present, “Pondering Effective Beef Cattle Management”. Ringwall is a livestock specialist with the NDSU Extension Service, the Dickinson Research Extension Center director and a teacher at Dickinson State University. He also writes “BeefTalk”, a weekly column for the NDSU Extension Service.

At 1 p.m. Tim Semler of T/S Farm Management LLC, based in Willow City, will present “2014 Farm Bill Decisions”. A former Extension agent for McHenry (1975-79) and Bottineau (December 1991-May 2012) Counties, Semler’s business is consulting with farmers on management, FSA and NRCS programs, crop insurance options, lease negotiations and crop, weed and pest management.

The show closes at the Armory at 4:30 p.m. and reopens at 5:30 p.m., with a social at the Rugby Eagles. Supper will be served at 6:30 p.m., and those in attendance will be entertained by comedian James Wedgwood Pratt.

The event is sponsored by the Rugby Chamber of Commerce, AM 1450 KZZJ radio and the Red River Farm Network.
