Bye named Chamber Volunteer of the Month

By Staff | Jan 23, 2015

Patricia Bye, of Rugby, was named the Rugby Chamber of Commerce’s Volunteer of the Month for January.

Bye said she found out about being nominated at a meeting of the Rugby Lions club and was “surprised.”

“I enjoy doing it, giving back to the community,” Bye said.

Bye said she started volunteering while attending college at the University of North Dakota, as the sorority she was a part of encouraged it. When she came back to Rugby, volunteerism only continued for her.

Bye has been involved in several Lions club projects. She is also a recipient of the Melvin Jones Fellowship award, which recognizes donations of $1,000 or more toward the Lions Club International Foundation.

Bye is also the president of the Friends of the Museum. She also helped out with Village Arts’ Childrens’ Theatre, and was a coach for Odyssey of the Mind, or what is now Destination Imagination.
