Historic complex demolished

By Staff | Nov 21, 2014

Ashley Burkhartsmeier/PCT The Hub complex was torn down this week by B&J Excavating.

The Hub complex is no more. Early this week, Rugby residents noticed construction crews razing the establishment. As reported in a Pierce County Tribune article in September, First International Bank and Trust of Watford City – which bought the 2.9-acre lot on which the Hub stood – intended to tear down and clean up the property. There is still no word on what will be built on the lot, and First International Bank of Watford City president Mark Friedt did not respond to requests for comment this week.

The Hub used to house a truck stop, restaurant and supper club, liquor store and a motel. Prior to moving to its current location in Mack Plaza, Rugby’s Subway franchise had been in the spot where the liquor store was. Former owners Dennis and Candie Fred sold the property earlier this year.
