Ride raises thousands

Sheeler and other members of the Vietnam Vets/Legacy Vets Motorcycle Club are raising money for the North Dakota POW-MIA Memorial to be built at North Dakota Veterans Cemetery in Mandan. Representatives from local and area organizations gathered Monday at the Memorial Hall in Rugby for check presentations from the Daryl Kuhnhenn Memorial Ride.

The 3rd annual ride took place Sept. 6.

Presenting checks were Daryl Kuhnhenn’s wife Pat, son Ben, daughter Gail (Kuhnhenn) Heilman and daughter-in-law Mandy Kuhnhenn (Ben’s wife).

The following organizations received donations raised from the ride: Clarence Larson Post 23 of the American Legion (Rugby), $2,500; Prairie Village Museum, $2,500; Rugby Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary, $1,500; Pierce County Fair, $1,000; Vietnam Vets/Legacy Vets Motorcycle Club, $700; Friends of the Lyric, $700; Rugby Lions Club Project Joy, $500; Rugby Amateur Hockey Association, $500; Heart of America Library, $400; Pierce County Food Pantry, $400; Towner Youth Baseball, $300.
