EMS’ Cote completes paramedic certification

Jenny Cote, member of the Rugby EMS completed her Paramedic Certification in August. Cote completed the necessary courses at the Minot Community Ambulance through a program from Dakota College at Bottineau.
The program is a three-part phase of classes, clinical work; which consisted of intubations in the operating room, shifts in the ER, chemical dependency unit, psychiatric, pediatric & OBGYN (obstetrics and gynecology) units and an internship. The internship took place primarily at Trinity Hospital and Minot Community Ambulance Service.
A paramedic is the highest level of EMT (Emergency Medical Technician) certification. A paramedic is trained and certified to perform advanced life support (ALS), which includes administering IV fluids, injections, medications and performing advanced respiratory procedures.
“I wanted to do more for my patients, and the support I got from the EMS team and (director) Ken Reed was great.” Cote said.
Originally from Fargo, Cote has lived in Rugby with her family for nine years.
