Area students on MSU honor rolls
Area students were recently added to Minot State University’s Spring 2014 dean’s and president’s list as well as their engagement honor roll.
Jolita Bennett, of Upham, was added to the engagement honor roll. To qualify, a student must complete a minimum of 50 hours in any combination of engagement activities, which include volunteerism, civic engagement, service learning, community-based problem solving and leadership development.
To qualify for the President’s List, students must earn a GPA of at least 3.8 for the semester and complete a minimum of 12 hours of instruction.

Local student awarded college scholarships
University of Jamestown bound Hannah Christenson, of Rugby, has been awarded a salutatorian scholarship, honor scholarship and track and field award – all from the university.
Christenson is a graduate of Rugby High School, where she was active in FFA, basketball, wrestling statistician, cross country, Science Olympiad and track. The daughter of Erik and Sarah Christenson, Hannah plans to major in biology and participate in track and field for the Jimmies.

RHS registration set for Aug. 14-15
Registration for the Rugby Junior & Senior High School 2014-2015 term will be held Aug. 14 from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., and from 12:30 p.m. to 4 p.m.; and Aug. 15 from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.
New students should register Aug. 14. Please bring a copy of your birth certificate and immunization records with you.
Returning Rugby students, entering grades 8 through 12, may pick up registration materials both days. Students needing schedule changes should see Mrs. Sjol or Mr. Blikre during scheduled registration times.
There is a seventh-grade orientation for students and parents on Aug. 14 at 7 p.m. The orientation will be held in the Tilman Hovland Auditorium. School begins Aug. 21 at 8:35 a.m.
Reminders for parents and students
Parents: When purchasing school clothes for this year please consider the RPS Dress Code Guidelines for apparel that is appropriate for school.
No clothing that exposes undergarments.
Skirts, dresses and shorts must be properly fitted and may not be shorter than mid-thigh.
No spaghetti strap or halter top shirts without an over shirt will be permitted. Shoulder straps have to be a minimum of one inch wide. No shirts or blouses that expose cleavage will be permitted.
No bare midriff shirts or blouses will be permitted. Tops must touch bottoms.
No see-through or mesh garments may be worn which exposes undergarments or inappropriate body parts.
Articles of clothing such as T-shirts with writing or pictures on them are prohibited if such material is suggestive, obscene, or advertises or promotes the use of alcohol, tobacco or other harmful or illegal substances.
