A new face is on staff at the Heart of America-Johnson Clinic.

Dr. Ashley Kremer joined the staff last week. A 2002 graduate of Tioga High, Kremer is enjoying Rugby so far.

“The best thing [about Rugby] is it is not the oil capital of North Dakota,” Kremer chuckled. “The people here have been great, I just really like it. It’s a little bit more of the same down-home North Dakota I grew up in, whereas Tioga has changed a bit.”

Kremer knew in junior high she wanted to become a doctor.

“My best friend’s father and uncle were primary care doctors in Tioga,” Kremer said. “I was around them all the time and they kind of influenced me into wanting to to do that.”

Kremer went on to complete eight years of medical training at the University of North Dakota, and three years of residency at the Center for Family Medicine in Bismarck.

At Johnson Clinic, Kremer’s areas of care include primary care and prevention, general women’s health, pediatrics and medical gerontology.Heart of America Medical Center CEO Jeff Lingerfelt said he was proud of Kremer’s hiring.

“I think there’s a shortage of primary care physicians in the state and nationally, so for us to recruit someone from North Dakota is huge,” Lingerfelt said. “She was the only physician in her class at UND!”

In her downtime, Kremer likes to bake, play volleyball and softball, travel and hang out with family and friends. She is married to Rugby native Eric Kremer and they have a 3-month-old daughter.
