Park Board meets June 19

The Rugby Park Board met June 19 in the evening.

The board decided to look into new lighting at Southside and Ellery Parks.

The board discussed work on the commercial building at the Fairgrounds. The board expects usage to quadruple once all work, including electrical, is completed.

The board discussed progress on construction of bathrooms in Jaycees Park. Electrical work is almost complete.

The board discussed upkeep of the basketball and tennis courts. Board Chairman Terry Wentz proposed resurfacing the tennis court by Rugby High School be put on the agenda for next year, and asked board member Rick Larson to look into putting in blacktop or cement on the basketball courts.

The board discussed the walking path. Wentz said he wanted to see a two-inch overlay or another option to protect the walking path from further heavy equipment damage.

The board briefly discussed a letter from John C. McClintock Jr. about the possibility of putting in a new skate park. They decided to table it until they saw more interest in it.
