A fresh style of fitness is joining downtown Rugby as Hiitfit Junction will host a grand opening May 24 at the the new gym’s location at the corners of S. Main Avenue and 2nd Street.

And that’s not a typo in the name. Hiitfit represents high-intensity interval training, which will package individually tailored workouts for customers looking for something other than treadmills and weight-lifting machines.

The gym, owned by Rob and Michelle Bollinger, is modeled off the CrossFit-style gyms that have popped up all around the country.

“The nice thing about cross-training is you put them in a program and they’ll start at their level using their body weight,” Michelle Bollinger said. “It’s never the same workout.”

The gym will also focus on nutrition with clean-eating and juicing classes. Hiitfit Junction is seeking a CrossFit certification this summer.

Michelle Bollinger is a certified personal trainer and has done personal training for two years. She will be joined by her husband, Rob, and trainer Michael Corum. Rob played college baseball and has coached varsity baseball, girls basketball and volleyball. Corum, the TGU boys basketball coach, was a fitness leader in the Navy.

All three trainers served in the military, as Michelle was Air Force Active Duty and Rob served in the Colorado National Guard. Hiitfit will host a free “Hero Workout of the Day” on Memorial Day (May 26) open to the community. The gym will have daily Workouts of the Day at 5:30 p.m., but the Hero workout is specifically designed to remember the 44 Pierce County service members who gave the ultimate sacrifice, according to a Hiitfit press release.
