Sixth-grader Hayden Thingvold (black sweatshirt) leads about 50 students at the start of Little Flower School’s 16th Annual Marathon.

About 50 students joined parents, nuns and Fr. Tom Graner in the 16th Annual Little Flower School Marathon on May 2 in Rugby.

The PTO-sponsored event is Little Flower School’s biggest fundraiser each year. Students send out letters to family and alumni to gather support for the school and the campaign is highlighted by a bike marathon up and down 30th Avenue NE between 2nd Street SE and US 2.

As of May 2, the school received about $10,000 in pledges and gifts, according to Graner. Students receive prizes based on how much money they raise.

A week after the marathon, the fun continued as students participated in the marathon awards on Friday. Some students got to lob water balloons at Graner and Principal Jorgen Knutson.
