Northeast District Court hears two felony cases

By Staff | Mar 11, 2014

Northeast District Judge John C. McClintock Jr. heard two cases involving felony charges on Tuesday at the Pierce County Courthouse.

Nicole Haggerty, 39, of Rugby, pleaded guilty to possession of controlled substance, a Class C felony, and the court ordered a deferred imposition of sentence and placed her on three years of supervised probation.

Haggerty was arrested on Dec. 4 with prescription pain medications in her possession. A deferred imposition of sentence means the defendant’s verdict will be set aside if probation is successfully completed.

Haggerty was ordered to complete a chemical dependency evaluation and recommended treatment and owes the court $560.

In an initial appearance, Efrain Romero, Jr., 31, of Bismarck, pleaded not guilty to a fourth offense of driving under the influence, a Class C Felony. Romero was arrested on Feb. 21 and charged with DUI and refusal to submit to on-site screening or chemical test.
