The anticipation for the opening of Rugby’s newest store is nearly over. Family Dollar, located along N.D. 2 next to the Hub, will open Wednesday at 8 a.m.

The convenience store, which isn’t exclusively a dollar store, will offer competitive prices for goods including furniture, bedding, clothing, household chemicals, dog food and automotive products.

Rolla store manager Shelly Reiter is overseeing the opening with Rugby store manager Rikki Erb. Reiter expects a similar “huge” response to the one she saw more than three years ago when the Rolla location opened.

“We have really good prices on stuff and I think that’s the biggest draw,” Reiter said. “We have lots of dollar items. We’re not a dollar store, we’re a convenience store, but our prices even on our chemicals and our household (products) is lower than Walmart, so our prices are kept really low.”

Employees spent this week setting up the aisles and stocking shelves. The store will host a grand opening on Dec. 5 with a cake and gift bags for the first 50 customers.

Regular hours will be Monday through Saturday from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sundays from noon to 9 p.m. The store will be closed on Christmas.
