Library still raising money for elevator

By Staff | Nov 7, 2013

The Heart of America Library had an elevator installed in April to make the open space in the lower floor more accessible to people with disabilities and adults with young children.

Library director Sheila Craun said the library is still looking to raise about $90,000 for the elevator.

Mindy Stier uses the elevator on a weekly basis when she brings a group of children to Story Time with Marlys Ostrem on Wednesdays.

“I’ve been taking my daycare kids to Story Hour for about six years,” Stier said. “It’s just a fun outing we look forward to.

I used to have to unload all the babies and everything at the top of the stairs and now I can take the strollers downstairs with me. Otherwise, I had to carry them all down one by one.”
