Family Dollar Store set to open

Chris Bieri/PCT The Family Dollar Store is set to open in Rugby early next month. The store’s building is complete and only needs to be inspected by a Family Dollar Store representative before preparations to open can begin.

Rugby’s Family Dollar Store is scheduled to open up in November, according to the project’s developer.

Trey Perman with Delta T Development said the building is completed and only needs to be inspected by a representative from Family Dollar Store before preparations to open the store get ramped up.

“The Family Dollar is supposed to come in and inspect the building early next week and see if everything is up to par,” Perman said. “They’ll open the store somewhere between Nov. 7 and Nov. 28. I’m not sure which date they’ve picked.”

Perman said the grand opening will be on a Thursday at some point between those dates.

The store is 80 feet by 104 feet, according to Perman, and its 8,320 square feet will be nearly identical to Family Dollar Stores in Rolla and Devils Lake.

Perman said in July that the store would likely be open in September, but the construction of the building had a few minor setbacks.

“It took a little bit longer due to the no-show contractors. Other than that, everything went pretty okay,” he said.

Perman said the store has already taken some applications from potential employees but wasn’t certain exactly which positions had been hired.

In total, the chain which opened in 1959 has more than 7,600 stores nationwide with a philosophy of offering a “self-serve, cash-and-carry neighborhood discount store in low to middle income neighborhoods,” according to its website.
