New locale

Chris Bieri/PCT Jessica Tuchscherer styles a client’s hair at La Bella Vita’s new location in Rugby.

What a difference a few yards can make.

La Bella Vita opened last fall with the plans to moving into a bigger, better salon.

On July 1, the business opened just to the east of its initial location in the Mack Plaza.

At 1,800 square feet, it’s 1,300 feet larger than the last salon, and includes a tanning room and a separate room where owner Leah Wentz provides a permanent makeup service.

The sprawling space has six stylist chairs, three shampoo stations and two dryers, among other amenities.

“We didn’t have the tanning room or the break room,” Wentz said. “At the last place we had a public bathroom, so now we have a private bathroom. It’s nice to have the extra space for us and the clients.”

Stylist Jessica Tuchscherer said the break room is an especially nice addition.

“Now we can eat in privacy where we’re not eating in front of our clients,” Tuchscherer said.

Wentz designed the salon’s layout as well as the furniture and color scheme and said customers have enjoyed the new look.

She said the business is open five days a week, and has a busy schedule of weddings that are taking up most Saturdays in the summer.
