Lyric Theatre reopens

Nearly 200 patrons walked through the door of the newly reopened Lyric Theatre last weekend to watch the film “Escape From Planet Earth.” Since ceasing operations in December, the theater, then called the Centre Cinema, has had a facelift, the first step in a renovation process. The Rugby Job Development Authority, which purchased the building in early January, said more than 500 volunteer hours for cleaning, painting and upgrading the concession areas were put into the theater before the first movie was shown. On the first weekend there were 27 volunteers working at the theater. This weekend’s film is Lincoln, directed by Steven Spielberg and starring Daniel Day Lewis in the title role.
