Who has filed for city and county government?

With the passing of the April 13 deadline to file for open city and county government positions, both Pierce County and the city of Rugby have a number of candidates who have filed to run.

In Ward I, Gary Kirchofner and Bruce (Allen) Rheault are running for Rheault’s expiring seat.

In Ward II, Gary Kraft and Glenn Falkner are vying for Jerry Harmel’s seat. Harmel has chosen not to run again.

In Ward III, Shawn Aubrecht is challenging Jim Hoffert for Hoffert’s seat on the council.

In Ward IV, Terry Wentz has thrown his hat in the ring for another term while Dennis Fred is challenging him for that seat.

In the county commissioners contest, Mike Christenson who is the current chairman of the commission, is running unopposed for his seat in District 2.

In District 4, Luis Coca and Aaron Riele are challenging Duane Johnston for his seat.

In Balta, incumbent Shawna Hallof is running unopposed for her expiring seat. Mayor Mike Jundt is running for another term as mayor. No one is challenging him.

The primary election will be held on Tuesday, June 12, 2012.

To be eligible to vote, you must be: a U.S. citizen, at least 18 years old on the day of an election, a legal North Dakota resident, a resident in the precinct for 30 days preceding the election. Voters in Rugby vote at the armory.
