There’s no other way to put it, the Rugby Panthers got whipped by #1 North Star at Cando, on Monday, Jan. 13.

Like any good whipping, the Panthers are taking what they learned and moving forward.

“North Star is a really good team,” said Rugby Coach Mike Santjer. “Offensively, they shot well from the start.”

North Star had two players in the upper double digits, Jacob Hagler with 39 and Daniel Grande with 21 points.

“We never quit,” said Santjer. “We played hard, we just didn’t make the shots.”

North Star is rated number 1 in the state for a reason. They come to play and execute well.

“We tried to stop them, but we made too many mistakes,” said Santjer.

Rugby was scheduled to play Dunseith on Thursday, Jan. 19.

“This is where we pick ourselves up and dust ourselves off and put the North Star game behind us,” said Santjer.

“If everyone shows up to play at Dunseith we would hopefully get the job done,” Coach Santjer predicted, as the Tribune was going to press before the
