Revvin’ up and rollin’ out
Over 50 motorcycles lined Rugby’s main street and traveled 125 miles last week, all for charity.
The NorseMen, a North Dakota-based motorcycle club with riders in Rugby and parts of Canada, held a 125-mile ride with stops in Rugby, Wolford, Cando, Leeds, Balta and Esmond on June 18. Riders put up $10 and had the chance to win a pool cue from Samsara Cues. Sponsors of the event put up $200 apiece.
The club stopped at various establishments on their trip, including the Corregidor in Wolford, Jester’s Bar in Rugby, Gordy’s Bar in Cando, The Esmond Bar, Balta Bar, and Earl’s Bar in Leeds.
The motorcycle club’s ride was for a charity that, for them, hits close to home, Bikers Fighting Diabetes. Several riders in the event have the disease, which made the ride pertinent. Proceeds from the event went to the Diabetes Foundation.
Event organizer Jim Stadum hopes that this will be an annual event.
“We are not some outlaw motorcycle gang. We want the community to know about the positive things we’re doing,” Stadum said.
