Kicking off the holiday season

Holiday time is creeping up and Rugby has a lot in store for local shoppers.

The annual Parade of Lights will start at 4:30 p.m. this year. This will be followed by the lighting of the Christmas Tree at 5:00 p.m. both on Friday, November 26. All day in various participating businesses, there will be a Taste of Christmas as merchants provide treats to shoppers.

This year’s parade will line up at the Rugby High School parking lot starting at 4:00 p.m. The lighting of the Christmas Tree will be at Merchants Bank Park.

Free movie matinees will be shown on two Saturdays in December. They are December 4 and 18 at 1:00 p.m. These movies are sponsored by the Rugby Chamber of Commerce businesses.

A prize drawing event called ‘Passport to Christmas’ will be sponsored by the Chamber during the holiday season. Passports will be made available to customers on Friday, November 26. (See details on this promotion inside the Tribune)

On Monday, November 29 the Heart of America Medical Center Auxiliary ‘Tree of Giving will hold a lighting ceremony at 4:00 p.m.

This is followed on Tuesday with ‘Photos with Santa’ at Bremer Bank.

On Thursday, December 2 the Rugby Greenhouse will have a Holiday Open House.

The Heartland Orchestra and Choir will perform at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 5 at the Tilman Hovland Auditorium at Rugby High School.

Passport drawings will be held on Tuesday, December 7, Tuesday, December 14 and Saturday, December 18. A change this year, drawings will not be held in stores this year. The final drawing will be held in the old Verety building next door to Hardware Hank at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 18. Coffee, cider, and treats will be served.

Bremer Bank will host a Holiday Open House on Thursday, December 9.

On Tuesday, December 14, the North Star Community Credit Union will host a Holiday Open House.

Merchants Bank Holiday Open House will be on Thursday, December 16.

On Wednesday, December 22, Ramsey Bank will host their Holiday Open House.

Rugby has many opportunities to get out and greet neighbors and friends during the holiday season.
