Good Sam Club RV’ers will be in town
Between 100 and 140 RV units associated with the Good Sam Club organization will be wheeling into Rugby for a week-long stay.
The group which could number as many as 300 people will be staying between Aug. 16-22 at the Pierce County Fairgrounds.
This organization of recreational vehicle owners hold their ‘Samborees’ all around the country and Canada each year.
In addition to camping together, the group holds meetings, activities and meals for its members. During its stay in Rugby, they will also plan to tour the community and visit its attractions and businesses.
The Greater Rugby Conventions and Visitors Bureau (CVB) has been working for a few years to get the organization to come to Rugby, according to Don Sobolik, CVB executive secretary.
Businesses are encouraged to put up signs welcoming the group to the Geographical Center. The CVB is also assembling welcome packets for the RV visitors complete with information about the town, its businesses and attractions as well as regional attractions.
The tentative plan is for the Good Sam Club to return in 2011.
