Road work planned along U.S. 2

By Staff | Aug 5, 2010

A 24-mile stretch of the eastbound lanes of U.S. Highway 2 between Rugby and Leeds is scheduled for a two-inch asphalt overlay and the $3.4 million project will begin this Monday, Aug. 9, weather permitting.

Wayde Swenson, Devils Lake DOT district engineer, said the project is funded entirely with federal stimulus dollars and includes a ‘hot bituminous overlay’ of both lanes and the shoulder. Mayo Construction of Cavalier is completing the paving which is expected to wrap up in September.

Traffic will be down to one lane while construction is taking place and motorists are asked to drive with care and obey the reduced speed limits in the construction zone. Flaggers will direct traffic through the work area.
