Annual Memorial Day program is May 31

The public is invited to join the local and area military veterans in paying tribute to those who have died serving this country in times of war.

The annual Rugby Memorial Day program sponsored by the American Legion will be held this Monday, May 31, beginning at 10:30 a.m. in the Memorial Hall.

The program, which lasts about 30 minutes, will include the advancing and retiring of colors; introduction of military personnel; a keynote address given by Craig Wollenburg; andseveral patriotic musical selections performed by the Rugby Jr.-Sr. High band students under the direction of Tilman Hovland.

Following the program, officials will place a wreath at the fallen soldiers’ monument outside the Hall in tribute to those soldiers from Pierce Co. who died while serving in foreign wars. At 11 a.m., Taps will be played.

A lunch will also be available in the basement of the Hall. The cost is $7, and it is open to everyone.
