Department responds to anhydrous tank mishap
No one was injured and no chemical was released after a small anhydrous ammonia tank overturned in a ditch along U.S. Highway 2 on May 15
The accident happened about five miles east of Rugby around 8:20 a.m.
A John Deere tractor and cultivator was pulling the tank in the westbound lane, according to Jerry Block, assistant fire chief. Apparently, a pin broke on the cultivator, causing the tank to become unstable and overturn. The driver’s name was not released.
Four fire units responded and were on the scene for about 90 minutes, Block said. Fire officials helped to tip the tank right-side-up
