One-vehicle accident results in minor injuries

By Staff | Apr 8, 2010

A 69-year-old Wolford man was treated for minor injuries after the vehicle he was riding in slid into the ditch and rolled onto its side about a mile north of Rugby on April 2, according to a report from the N.D. Highway Patrol.

Lyle (Buddy) Lima was taken to the Heart of America Medical Center in Rugby.

The driver, Don Lima, 76, Rugby, was not injured.

The two were traveling southbound on N.D. Highway 3 around 3:20 p.m. in a 2002 Ford when the accident happened. Lima met a northbound vehicle and pulled over slightly to allow for more room. However, when he did this, the Ford began to slide out of control due to slushy highway conditions. It entered the east ditch and rolled on its side. Weather conditions at the time of the accident were poor. There was freezing rain and snow falling.

The car was totaled. The driver was wearing his seatbelt while the passenger was not, according to the report.

The Pierce County Sheriff’s Department, Rugby Ambulance, Rugby Fire Department, and Bureau of Criminal Investigation also responded.
