What was a proposal is now a reality.

Beginning April 5, Rugby’s post office will in fact scale back its retail window hours and move up its daily collection time, according to Matt Taylor, Rugby postmaster.

The retail window will be open at 9 a.m. – thirty minutes later – and it will be closed between 11 a.m. and 12 noon Monday thru Friday. Another change will be the last collection of mail (in the lobby and outside collection box) will be at 4:30 p.m.

Presently, the mail is not collected until 5:30 p.m. and the office is open until 6 p.m.

The changes were made by the post office’s regional office and is expected to save an estimated $12,000.
