County to build new shop in Balta

By Staff | Mar 5, 2010

At its March 2 meeting, the Pierce County commission called for bids on a 54-foot-by-60-foot pole-style building in Balta to replace the existing shop on Main Street.

The structure will house a maintainer and likely a truck and other equipment.

David Migler, fifth district commissioner, said the plan is to tear down the old shop which is rusted out and showing signs of age and build the new over the top. Additional concrete may need to be poured and there will be costs for electrical wiring and connecting the plumbing once the shop is up. The county has been setting aside funds over the past few years for the project.

“We have $60,000 budgeted, but we hope the bids will come in lower than that,’ Migler said.
