Voeller sentenced for child abuse

A Rugby daycare provider found guilty on two counts of child abuse was sentenced to three years in prison followed by five years of supervised probation upon release.

Lori A. Voeller received the sentence on Dec. 18 in Northeast District Court in Rugby before Judge John McClintock. The sentenced was 10 years, with seven of it suspended.

On September 26, a jury found Voeller guilty on two counts of child abuse, both Class A felonies. She was acquitted on six other counts during the trial that lasted five days.

Prosecutors accused Voeller of abusing children between the ages of four months and five years in her care.
