‘Coffee with the Kelleys’

By Staff | Nov 13, 2009

UND President Robert Kelley and his wife, Marcia, invite Rugby and surrounding community members to “Coffee with the Kelleys” this Wednesday afternoon, Nov. 18 at Rugby’s Coffee Cottage, beginning at 3 p.m.

It’s an opportunity to meet the Kelleys and engage in conversation about the state and education and other topics in a casual setting. The event is free and refreshments will be provided.

President Kelley was in Rugby earlier this year when officials gathered for the two-day forum. He toured the community and visited with a number of residents and was impressed with the community, saying he wanted to return.

He became UND’s 11th President in July of 2008. Prior to that, he had been dean of the College of Health Sciences and professor of medical education and public health at the University of Wyoming since 1999. He also taught and was administrator at a number of colleges, including the University of Illinois at Chicago; University of New Mexico; and University of California at Berkeley.

Kelley earned his B.A. in biology and chemistry from Abilene Christian University in Abilene, Texas in 1965. He earned his master’s and doctorate in 1969, in both cell and developmental biology, from the University of California, at Berkeley.

He and Marcia, who was a lecturer at the University of Wyoming Department of Communication Disorders, have four children.
