Charity Week raises just over $4,600

By Staff | Aug 7, 2009

It was just one week, but it raised just over $4,600 for local organizations.

Charity Week, that is, a campaign of the Rugby Community Endowment Fund to encourage local giving.

It was held July 27-31, and residents had the opportunity to make a donation to several organizations and have it matched by the Endowment Fund, up to $500.

Galen Mack, Endowment committee member, said the generous contributions of many citizens will enable 11 entities to receive funds through the Endowment. Among those who applied were: Tri-County Senior Meals and Services; Prairie Village Museum; Rugby Amateur Hockey Association; Heart of America Library; Pierce County Fair Association; Growing Place Daycare; Village Arts, Inc.; Rugby Lions Club Project Joy; and the Rugby Park District.

In addition, donations were made to the Endowment Fund to be dispersed. The committee met last week to award the funds to the organizations. It’s likely Charity Week will again be featured next year.
