Rugby JDA to develop website
In an effort to better market Rugby and Pierce County, and showcase the Rugby Area Development Authority (JDA) and its services to new and existing businesses, the JDA later this year will launch a website.
Brenda Dissette, JDA executive director, said the site will provide local stakeholders information about available funds and local and state grant opportunities as well as news from the JDA. The site will also provide out-of-area businesses and individuals with helpful data about the community; information about local medical facilities, schools and businesses; and more specific details, such as currently available commercial properties and a breakdown of property tax rates.
While the city of Rugby and Geographical Center Chamber of Commerce both have websites with information about the community, Dissette said this new site will provide more thorough information and will be geared toward economic development. It will provide information about programs available through the JDA, including its revolving loan fund, property tax exemptions and Renaissance Zone program. The site will also have links to state and federal agencies and potential funding sources.
The JDA received a $3,500 grant through Minot’s Magic Fund which, in part, will be used to develop the website. Dissette said the JDA will also be looking into funds through the Department of Commerce to be used toward rural marketing.
The plan is to have the site launched late in the year. In addition, the JDA office will be compiling data for a brochure which will include a profile of the community and vital statistics.
Job fairs will also be planned in the future as well as other events to promote employment opportunities in the area.
