Train service suspended due to track damage
If there don’t seem to be many trains passing through Rugby of late, you’re right.
The Burlington Northern-Sante Fe’s main line running through town has been temporarily shut down due to track damage near Granville caused by overland flooding. Trains have had to be re-routed, or in the case of Amtrak’s Empire Builder route, suspended.

Currently, Amtrak is again operating on BNSF’s KO Subdivision, commonly referred to as the Surrey Cuttoff. As a result, train service bypasses Rugby, Devils Lake and Grand Forks. This marks the second time this spring Amtrak service in Rugby has been affected by flooding, and the station has been temporarily closed.
