Street repairs to begin

By Staff | Apr 21, 2009

Weather permitting, work on the District 1-2009 street improvement project in Rugby will get its start this week.

The first stage will be removal of faulty portions of curb and gutter, beginning on the north end and moving south. A pre-construction meeting was held on April 16, attended by the project contractor, Bituminous Paving Inc., engineers and city officials.

The project is expected to take much of the summer to complete, and includes seal coats, milling and overlay, and in some areas, more extensive repairs.

In addition to repairs on city streets, the DOT has awarded a bid to complete a mill and overlay along N.D. Highway 3 throughout the city. It’s part of a highway project that extends north about 22 miles along the highway. The city will not have to fund any of the project’s costs.
