Child abuse trial set to begin on March 30

By Staff | Mar 27, 2009

The trial of a Rugby daycare provider charged with six counts of Class B felony criminal child abuse is scheduled to begin this Monday, March 30, in Northeast District Court in Rugby.

Lori A. Voeller pled not guilty to the charges during a preliminary hearing held last November. The charges related to incidents of abuse that occurred at Voeller’s in-home daycare, where bodily and mental harm was allegedly inflicted by the defendant.

A pre-trial conference will be held at 9 a.m. with jury selection scheduled to follow.

Voeller is being represented by Scott Thompson, Devils Lake. The state of North Dakota is represented by Jonathan Byers, Bismarck. NE District Judge John McClintock will preside over the trial.
