-Genesis Irene Hallam, 22, Blaine, Minnesota, pleaded guilty to an infraction charge of unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia-use and storage of marijuana or THC before Judge Michael Hurly in Northeast Judicial District Court at the Pierce County Courthouse Oct. 19. Hurly ordered Hallam to pay $250 in court fees for the charge, which came from a May 26 citation by the North Dakota Highway Patrol.

-Shawn Michael Schwandt, 23, Lisbon, pleaded guilty to a C felony charge of possession of a controlled substance, plus a C felony charge of possession of drug paraphernalia from a July 30 arrest by the Rugby Police Department. On Oct. 19, Hurly ordered Schwandt to undergo a chemical dependency evaluation, complete any recommended treatment and file proof of completion with the court for both charges. Hurly also sentenced Schwandt to two concurrent 360-day suspended sentences at Heart of America Correctional and Treatment Center, Rugby, with credit for 82 days served. Schwandt also received concurrent two-year terms of supervised probation. The terms of the sentence also included regular debriefings with law enforcement and a requirement for Schwandt to surrender his firearm.
