– Tena Kofoid, Rugby, pleaded guilty to an A misdemeanor charge of giving false reports to law enforcement in Northeast Judicial District Court at the Pierce County Courthouse Sept. 23. Kofoid’s plea came after she admitted to telling Pierce County Sheriff’s Deputies Aaron Michael Antonson, Rugby, who has been classified as a high-risk sex offender, lived at her address. Antonson had falsely reported Kofoid’s address as his own when he registered as a sex offender in Pierce County. Antonson pleaded guilty to a C felony charge of failure to register as a sex offender before Judge Michael Hurly Sept. 12. Hurly sentenced Antonson to 90 days with the North Dakota Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (DOCR) with credit for 19 days served and 18 months of supervised probation for that offense. Hurly sentenced Kofoid to complete 30 hours of community service by Dec. 31, 2022 and pay $350 in court and other fees.
– Myron Marlin Demery, Dunseith, pleaded guilty to C felony charges of fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer and theft of property – possession Sept. 12 in district court. At that appearance, Demery also pleaded guilty to a B misdemeanor charge of reckless driving. Hurly ordered Demery to serve two concurrent five-year sentences with the North Dakota DOCR, first serving two years and six months before serving a three-year probation term, with credit for 24 days served at Heart of America Correctional and Treatment Center (HACTC). Hurly also ordered Demery to serve 30 days at HACTC for the reckless driving charge, concurrent with the other sentences. Additionally, Hurly ordered Demery to complete a chemical dependency evaluation and any recommended treatment, file proof of both with the court, and pay $1,925 in fees, including restitution fees of $1,400 and $500.
