Trees Can Provide More Than Shade
The Buffalo Lake Sportsman’s Club of Esmond is continuing its improvements to the recreation area by holding a Memorial Tree Dedication Ceremony this summer. Last June 14th , the Sportsman’s club planted 22 new 6-8 foot trees around the lake. A lot of different varieties of trees were planted for families to pick their special tree from. The Club thought the trees would make wonderful living tributes that will benefit present and future generations and will honor friends and loved ones. The trees also make the Buffalo Lake Recreation Area an even more beautiful place to visit. Julie Grove, the Sportman’s Club’s Secretary/Treasurer says, “We thought it was a great idea for people around the area to be able to honor their loved ones with a beautiful tree planted around the lake. We knew we wanted to plant some new trees at the recreation area and thought it would be a nice touch to allow people to donate a tree in someone’s memory.” There is a 5 year replacement on each tree from the time of purchase. Each tree includes an 8×11 granite memorial plaque. Trees are reserved on a first come, first reserved basis, with only 13 still available. The Special Dedication Ceremony will be held on Saturday, July 18th 2015 at 1pm along with other fun family activities held that day. The other activities planned include the Club de Skinautique Waterski Show from Lake Metigoshe followed by a DJ held under the stars. “We want people to come out and enjoy the beautiful area and lake we are so fortunate to have. We have been working hard to raise funds in order to make improvements to the recreation area every year. This year we hope to add more garbage containers, improve the main cooking building, add more sand to the beach, and put in a new bathroom facility.” For more information or questions regarding the memorial trees, please contact: Julie Grove at 701-214-0059 or Wanda Bullinger at 701-249-3306.
