Concert series returning in September with two shows

Courtesy of Six Appeal Six Appeal, the 2012 National Harmony Sweepstakes Champion, will perform Sept. 27 at Tilman Hovland Auditorium as part of the 39th annual Heart of America Concert Series.

The 39th annual Heart of America Concert Series opens with wife-husband combination Rebecca and Kuba on Sept. 21 and 22 in Devils Lake and Bottineau, respectively.

Rebecca is a Broadway and country singer and Polish musician Kuba plays the vibraphone and other percussion instruments

The series’ Rugby slate begins Sept. 27 with Six Appeal, an award-winning vocal group.

Six Appeal won the 2012 National Harmony Sweepstakes. The creative and lively bunch will treat audience members to an evening of a cappella. The group performs classic oldies, current chart toppers and their own original tunes.

Six Appeal has more than 70 combined years of musical training.

October dates

Jaimee Paul and the Leif Shires Quartet will perform in Bottineau on Oct. 21. Paul, a rising vocalist, is known for a sophisticated stage presence honed through shows done around the world.

New group Russian Quattro will perform Oct. 24 in Devils Lake. The group features two cellist and two violinists

November date

Music returns to Rugby on Nov. 23 with American Tapestry, a female trio of piano, fiddle and cello.

The ladies play music from the Civil War era, the Gold Rush and other historic eras in American history.

February date

The Suchon Wind Quintet will treat lovers to a Valentine’s Day concert in Devils Lake. The Slovakian musicians will be joined by pianist Michiko Otaki.

March date

Rugby hosts Rebecca and Kuba on March 14.

April dates

Grammy-nominated singer Maureen McGovern is in Devils Lake on April 11; Six Appeal in Bottineau April 16; and folk legends Limeliters in Rugby April 24.

The series ends May 2 with Alliance Brass Quintet in Bottineau. All shows are at 7:30 p.m.
