Chamber warns of check fraudsters

The Rugby Area Chamber of Commerce is warning all Rugby businesses to be on the lookout for two suspects who have been passing forged/stolen checks statewide in the past month: Matthew Wood and Rachel Wright.

Wood has used checks with his name on it and routing numbers that do not match the bank on the check. When asked, he will use his ID. He is also believed to be using other names.

Wright has been writing checks under the name “Francine Demery.”

They were last seen as passengers in a silver Chrysler Town & Country van, ND license plate KCV 437.

If you encounter these suspects at your business, call the Rugby Police Department immediately. Do not try to detain. Instead, get good, accurate descriptions and direction of travel and pass that information on to law enforcement.
