Towner woman killed in fiery crash

An 83-year-old Towner woman was killed in a fiery car crash Tuesday afternoon two miles east of Towner.

Alice Rosencrans was traveling west on US Highway 2 just after 1 p.m. when a 2012 Kenworth T800 semi rear-ended her 2003 Chrysler PT Cruiser. Both vehicles were engulfed in flames. Rosencrans was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the semi, Harold R. Porch II, 54, moore, Okla., was not injured in the crash. According to a release from the North Dakota Highway Patrol, Porch was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the accident and was able to exit the vehicle.

McHenry and Pierce County Sheriff’s Offices, North Dakota Highway Patrol, and Towner and Rugby Fire Departments and Emergency Medical Services responded to the crash.
