Lake Metigoshe State Park

holds Ski & Scavenger Hunt

Lake Metigoshe State Park is providing outdoor adventurers an opportunity to explore the park by holding a Ski & Scavenger Hunt on Saturday, Feb. 1.

For those not having cross country ski equipment, they can stop in at the warming house anytime between 10 a.m. and noon to be fitted for boots, skis and poles. Rental fees will be waived for those participants coming in during those times.

Take the day to explore the park’s trails and discover various aspects of the park while taking part in the scavenger hunt. The event is open to everyone and participants are asked to dress appropriately for the conditions.

There is a $5 daily vehicle entry fee for the park or vehicles must be displaying the annual vehicle permit. Lake Metigoshe State Park is located 15 miles northeast of Bottineau, ND. For more information call 701-263-4651. Learn more about the park online at www.parkrec.nd.gov.

Fishing derby set for Icelandic State Park’s Lake Renwick

Icelandic State Park’s Lake Renwick is the site for an ice fishing tournament being sponsored by the Pembina County & Area Sportsman’s Club on Saturday, Feb. 1 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Entry fee for the derby is $10 per person with children ages 12 and under free. Participants must have a valid North Dakota fishing license. Prizes will be awarded for the largest northern and perch caught. Kids and the oldest fisherman to catch a fish will also compete for prizes.

Icelandic State Park is located five mile west of Cavalier, ND, on Highway #5. To reach the lake follow detour signs. Registration is being held near the boat ramp.
