Arrest made in alleged storage burglaries

An arrest has been in connection with burglaries of storage units in the Rugby area, according to Pierce County Sheriff Matt Lunde.

In a press release, Lunde said the suspect, who was not named, was arrested in Moorhead, Minn., and is now being held at the Heart of America Correctional and Treatment Center, being charged with Class C felony burglary and theft of property, a Class B misdemeanor.

Lunde said the thefts occurred earlier this year and the case is still under investigation with the possibility of more arrests to come.

Lunde wanted to thank the officers and agents of the North Dakota Bureau of Criminal Investigation, the Rugby Police Department, the Fargo and Moorhead Police Departments and the U.S. Border Patrol for assisting the sheriff’s department on the case.

Sheriff’s office on lookout for litterers

The Pierce County Sheriff’s Department has received a number of calls recently about trash on the roadside within the county, especially in the rural areas and off the highways.

Sheriff Matt Lunde said anyone caught dumping trash in unauthorized areas will be prosecuted.

If anyone has any information people who have dumped trash in the county is asked to contact the sheriff’s office.
