Enbridge pipeline shut down after leak found near Knox
The Enbridge Pipeline was shut down for more two days after workers found a leak during an inspection near Knox on Monday, according to an Enbridge spokesperson.
Enbridge’s Katie Haarsager said crews were doing an inspection as part of a mainline integrity program when they came across what Haarsager described as an “anomaly” in the pipe around 6 p.m. on Monday.
Haarsager said it’s estimated that two barrels of oil contaminated the nearby soil, or approximately 63 gallons.
Crews worked on repair and clean up until early Thursday morning, Haarsager said.
“It’s a good sign that the tools we have are really sensitive,” she said. “It’s part of routine maintenance on any pipeline, just like repairing cracks or potholes on a roadway.”
