Rugby High students perform at Northwest Festival of Music
Five students from Rugby Public High School were chosen to perform at the 46th Annual Northwest Festival of Music at Minot State University on Friday, Nov. 1, and Saturday, Nov. 2.
The festival is an annual staple of MSU’s music and fine arts department and all participating students must audition in order to perform at the festival.
Rugby Public High School Choir members who were chosen to perform at the festival were soprano Ree Fox and altos Marnell Sobolik and Eden McFadden. These students sang at the festival with the Cantabile Choir, which was conducted by Dr. Emerson Eads.
Rugby Public High School Band members who performed at the festival were trombonist Cole Anderson and flutist Lexi Yoder. Anderson played trombone in the Symphonic Band conducted by Darcy Brandenburg. Yoder played flute in the Concert Band, which was conducted by Dr. David Rolandson.
Kari Hill is the band director at Rugby Public School for grades 5-12 and Andee Mattson is the choir director at Rugby Public School for grades 7-12 and teaches most of the elementary music classes as well.
The five Rugby students who performed at the Northwest Festival of Music represented their school and community with their musical excellence amid the other 600 regional high schools represented at the festival.
