Seven Rugby High School students performed vocal and instrumental music at the Northwest International Festival of Music held Nov. 4-5 at Minot State University.
“The students involved in this festival were selected from auditions sent in from North Dakota and Montana,” said Kari Hill, who with choir instructor Lexie Rusch taught and helped the students before they traveled to Minot.
“The festival consisted of over six hundred students in the following groups: two concert bands, a jazz band, three choirs, piano duet, and a string ensemble,” Hill added. “The students practiced together on Friday and Saturday morning, followed by an afternoon concert.”
“I was with them both days, and the concert was amazing,” she added enthusiastically. “Lexie and I are very proud of our band and choir students.”
RHS student musician Cole Anderson performed in the concert band, while Reese LaRocque and Lexi Yoder performed in the symphonic band. Caitlynn Towe performed in the concert choir, while Ree Fox, Heidi Voeller and Katherine Arnold performed in the women’s choir cantabile.
The Rugby High School Band and Choir will present winter concerts to the public Dec. 6 and 13 in Rugby High School’s Tilman Hovland Auditorium at 7:30 p.m.
